What do Marines say when theyre excited?
Yut “Yut.” Arguably used more often than “Oohrah” by junior Marines to express enthusiasm. Instead of “oohrah,” Marines will often just say “yut” when in the presence of motivational speeches and/or talk of blowing things up.
Do you have free time in the Marines?
There is no free time, you get paid for all of it.
Is it inappropriate for a civilian to say Semper Fi to a Marine?
It isnt inappropriate; its just weird. The only people I know who say Semper Fi are other Marine veterans, so it very much becomes a signal that that other person in the conversation is one. When other people use the term, it isnt wrong, it just sends the wrong message.
Do you salute a retired officer?
Yes, it is customary to salute them when you recognize them as officers, when they are in uniform or when they are participants in ceremonies. Security personnel (gate guards) at military installation entrances salute retired officers when they see their rank as they check ID cards, for example.
