Question: Where are serial numbers on drums?

What is the sound of drum called?

A set of wires (called snares) is stretched across a drum head at the bottom of the drum. The vibration of the bottom drum head against the snares produces the drums characteristic cracking tone. Claps, snares, and other sharp or bright sounds are often used in similar ways in drum patterns.

Why do I hear drumming in the woods?

This is the male grouses way of attracting females. While the sound is often incorrectly described as the feathers hitting the grouses chest, the noise is actually produced by the wings flapping the air. Count yourself lucky if you are able to actually see a ruffed grouse drumming.
